2 days of North West Veluwe

Oct. 24, 2015

It was really exciting to participate in this WRE race in Nunspeet. It doesn't happen often that there are many female orienteers running in the Netherlands. Luckily, this time I had to compete with the girls not only from the Netherlands, but also Belgium and Sweden.

The terrain was really nice and not as flat as usual, so the hills were super tiring! Even though the terrain required fast running speed, it was important to read the map carefully. The visibility in the forest wasn't that good, so it was really easy to lose the right direction.

In overall, I wasn't fully satisfied with my race. I started the course too fast and wasn't too concentrated on orienteering. Only in the middle of the course, at the map change, I started to run better. There I thought that a girl caught me by 6 minutes (because she had a bib number 58 and I had 55), so I speeded up and got really focused on orienteering, because I wanted to run away from her as quickly as possible. Luckily I managed to finish the race pretty well and even realized that the girl that I was worried about started before me, haha!
